Grab Types
Remote Control Grab
JANUS's core product — a hydraulic grapple opened and closed by a handheld wireless remote, from 10 to 28 tons dead weight, for bulk cargo, scrap and timber.
Motor Hydraulic Grab
A self-contained hydraulic grab for scrap yards and shore cranes, with its own motor and pump unit built into the frame.
Mechanical Port Grab
Rope-operated grabs for gantry and portal cranes at ports and terminals, built for continuous high-tonnage bulk handling.
Manufacturing
Plate cutting, part assembly, machining, blasting and painting are all done in-house, with every unit load-tested before it ships.
Why JANUS
Design details most other grab makers skip — the difference shows up in crane wear, maintenance hours and downtime.
No-Impact Opening
Opening speed follows cylinder pressure — slow and controlled when the grab is full, faster once cargo has cleared — cutting the shock load transmitted back up to the crane.
Twin Cylinders, No Side Force
Two cylinders share the load evenly. A single-cylinder grab bends under side force when tilted; JANUS's cylinders never bear that load, so they don't deform.
Center-Mounted Sheaves
Both sheaves sit on the grab's centerline. If the grab tilts and only one sheave takes the load, the other cylinder still isn't exposed to a high bending moment.
Self-Venting Cylinders
Oil enters from the top of each cylinder, so trapped air bleeds out automatically — no manual venting needed before every job.
Quick Wire Rope Changes
Ropes come off without dismantling the socket pin. Most other grabs require the socket pins to be stripped down first.
Accessible Cylinders & Seals
Cylinders and seals can be changed without removing the top frame — on competitor designs, replacing a seal means stripping the whole head assembly.
Shielded Piston Rods
A removable shield covers each exposed piston rod, protecting it from cargo abrasion and salt corrosion, and comes off easily for inspection.
Clear Greasing Paths
Grease channels are laid out to reach every bearing point directly — on some competitor designs the path dead-ends, and bearings run dry and crack.
Remote Control Unit
Tested Before It Ships
- Loading test — every grab is load-tested at least 30 times, plus a separate overload test, before leaving the factory.
- UT inspection — critical welds are checked by ultrasonic testing.
- Verified design — structures are modelled in Solidworks and stress-checked in ANSYS before a design goes into production.
- Simple hydraulics — a two-cylinder circuit that's straightforward for crew to understand and repair on board.
- Maintenance-free bushings — self-lubricating, corrosion-resistant, high-polymer bushings need no greasing schedule of their own.
Every grab is proof-loaded on this test rig before delivery.

No Leakage, Even on Fine Cargo
Lip plates are machined in Hardox 500, not water-cut, to keep the steel's full hardness and prevent distortion — the two lips close with no gap, so fine powder cargo doesn't leak out mid-lift.
All hydraulic and electrical components sit in two separate sealed, water-proof boxes, so the working parts stay protected in monsoon and open-sea conditions.
